Cuisine Magazine, April 2008, Review by Toni Mason
The Viaduct is like a no man’s land, a territory not belonging to any one army. In Auckland people tend to stick to their stamping grounds and not cross the borders of, say, Ponsonby or Parnell, but the Viaduct is a common ground where all intermingle. The basin is a melting pot. And so it is with Soul. On any night or day the tables on its all-weather deck overlooking the moored boats are packed with a veritable cross-section of society. |

Finalist - Soul Bar and Bistro
"In balmy weather there's no other place in Auckland like Soul. With indoor/outdoor eating, views across the Viaduct Harbour and big crowds, this is the place to go for a good time, fine food and wine, right in the heart of the waterfront action." |
The National Business Review, Most Exciting Restaurant of the Year, November 2005
"Soul has topped the restaurant sector's most exciting company nationwide survey conducted by business researcher New River with a rating of almost 76% to add to its growing list of industry accolades." |
Cuisine Magazine, Restaurant of the Year, January 2005
"Soul feeds more than 300 people on a good day, and obliges a whole lot more who come just to drink.Through all this, it manages to be many things to many sorts of people. You can eat quickly and elegantly. But it is also a restaurant of choice for those still able to enjoy a long lunch – business people striking a deal or celebrating one, tourists soaking it all up, and, of course, "the ladies who lunch", for whom Soul lays on special deals." |
