He is Matt Moran and he’s coming to Auckland as a Guest Judge for the 2007 Metro/Corbans Restaurant of the Year competition.

Martin Heierling Martin will be the guest chef at Soul on the 2nd and 3rd August when he'll be presenting a superb 7 course degustation dinner. Currently an Exceutive Chef at the world famous Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada in the USA, Martin boasts an impressive cooking career. It spans Europe, the USA, the Caribbean and New Zealand. Martin served his apprenticeship in the German Navy before joining the Badrutt's Palace Hotel as Chef Entremetier. A five star hotel in St Moritz, Switzerland, then considered the world's leading hotel. During his interesting and varied career, Martin has served as Chef Rotisseur at the renowned Restaurant Lespinasse in New York and as Chief cook, in Nassau Bahamas on the Lady Moura, the largest privately owned yacht in the world. He is no stranger to New Zealand either, having worked at the Sheraton Towers in Auckland and as Chef de Cuisine at Essence Restaurant, when it received the Best Restaurant Award in 1998. So it is with great pleasure that Soul offers lovers of fine food the opportunity to enjoy Martin's excellent menu, albeit for a strictly limited time. Chef Philip Johnson On April 13 and 14 Philip Johnson, award winning chef of Ecco Bistro in Brisbane fame,was the guest chef at Soul for lunch. Simply conceived dishes, beautifully prepared with the freshest ingredients, which have made Philip one of Australia's most renowned chefs. Soul donated $10 from every ticket sold to the Breast Cancer Foundation. |
Stephanie Alexander - The Richmond Hill Café & Larder, Melbourne Join us at Soul for an informal evening on the deck with Stephanie Alexander. Stephanie's writing and teaching continues to showcase her as an outspoken champion of good food, quality and diversity which she combines with two of her favourite pastimes - travelling and spending time in good company. In Auckland to launch the latest edition of her book 'The Cook's Companion', she would like to invite you to meet with her and try a selection of her recipes. Our resident head chef Peter Thornley and his team will be preparing her dishes on outdoor hotplates and a complimentary glass of champagne will be waiting for you on arrival. Jeremy Strode - MG Garage Sydney After qualifying from the Westminster College, Jeremy Strode's first position as a chef was at the five star Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane, London. From there his career saw him working and travelling through England and France before moving to Melbourne in 1992. After 10 years in Melbourne, Jeremy Strode was offered the partnership as Chef/ Director at Sydney's iconic MG Garage restaurant. MG Garage currently holds two hats in the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide and two red stars in the Gourmet Traveller National Restaurant Guide. Charlie Trotter - Charlie Trotter's Chicago Charlie Trotter began his career as a professional chef in 1982 working and travelling all over the world. In 1987 he opened the now world famous Charlie Trotter's in Chicago, Illinois. For over 16 years it has been regarded as one of the finest restaurants in the world illustrated by the many international awards it has won. Chef Trotter is the author of nine cook-books and the host of an award-winning TV series. He is also a dedicated philanthropist and a huge supporter of education in the culinary arts. |
Greg Malouf - Momo's Melbourne Greg Malouf has inspired a generation of young chefs and transformed the Melbourne restaurant scene with his passion for the flavours of North Africa and the Middle East. He was born in Melbourne, Australia of Lebanese parents. After serving his formal apprenticeship in several of Melbourne's finest restaurants he went on to work in France, Italy, Austria and Hong Kong. Drawing on his cultural heritage and European training, Greg Malouf has forced a unique style of cooking that combines Middle Eastern tradition with contemporary flair. |
