Geeling
- Operations Manager
Immediately prior to working at Soul, Geeling escaped hospitality to work as the building manager for South Pacific Pictures at their Henderson television studios, an experience that added to the skills she needs to face Soul’s day to day challenges. Many people will also know Geeling from her acting roles. David Bowie’s ‘China Girl’ is possibly best known in NZ for her performances as Jasmine Sage in the television show Gloss in the 1980s, but she also starred in Leon Narbey’s film “Illustrious Energy”, and played a warrior in Mad Max 3. She has also dabbled in radio as a night time DJ, and currently presents the cooking segment for TVNZ’s Asia Down Under. She has contributed three of her recipes from this show to the Soul cookbook. |

Geeling is the operations manager at Soul, responsible for the restaurant’s day to day running. In this role she wears many hats, managing at various times the building, repairs and maintenance, human resources and acting as liaison between the restaurant’s three core departments. She has worked with Judith on and off for more than 10 years, starting at Ramses as the restaurant manager. This relationship is key to her role as Judith’s off-sider – Jude has the ideas and Geeling makes them happen. Her ability to be a “jack-of-all-trades” comes from her 20 years in hospitality, working in New Zealand, Australia and London, and she was also part-owner of the French Café.
