MARK WYLIEJudith is one of New Zealand’s leading restaurateurs. She started her career in the hospitality industry as a apprentice chef at a large Auckland hotel.  During her illustrious career spanning more than 20 years, Judith has gained valuable experience, knowledge and expertise from a variety of food service industry roles both locally and internationally. Soul is just the sort of environment Judith likes to visit.  Great food, drinks and atmosphere with a big dash of fun.  Busy with regular business clients, locals, tourists and occasion diners.  A place for all.

Prior to owning the highly successful Soul Bar & Bistro on Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour, Judith was the owner of Ramses in Newmarket. A very popular restaurant with a loyal clientele, Ramses was highly regarded for its cuisine and its service, and was the recipient of numerous industry awards.

When she joined forces with well-known entrepreneur Eric Watson in 2001 to establish Soul, Judith was keen to bring to Viaduct Harbour and to Auckland a busy, exciting and vibrant place for casual business and occasion dining, at all times of the day and night.  It is, therefore, a true bistro.  It was her wish in particular that as many people as possible should have the opportunity of enjoying Soul’s wonderful location and outlook.

During her years in the hospitality industry, Judith has realized the benefit of capturing international influences to develop Soul’s menus.  There is a continual requirement to stay ‘up with the play’.  She likes to be exposed to food and restaurant styles and enviroments throughout the world.  Judith travels regulary with her management team and is always looking for the next ‘sexy’ trend to bring back to New Zealand to tickle the fancy of her clientele; to lead, rather than follow, the local market.
